VRI-IL Vri-Il
CD-R Misty Circles/MCL

Italy is the birth ground of Vri-il, a new band on the frontier of electronic music. Their title-less album comes as a jointed effort by the labels Misty Circles en Musica Di Un Certo Livello. Everything is sold as a CD-r in a DVD-box and teaches us that there is more in Italy then just beautiful women, great food en cosy music. Don't let the CD-r format keep you from buying this album, you don't want to walk by something this great.
The three men of Vri-il start their album of on the right foot. Progressive rock touched by the madness of Glitch. Thrusting guitars and drums mixed with crazy synthesizer-sounds and tones. During the first two tracks the line of sounding like a progressive rock-band continues and then only the madness remains. It's clear where Vri-il listen to for inspiration, the influence of Coil is recognisable in their music but this doesn't mean they can't keep up with the grandmasters of Glitch. Now is Coil a band that can't be compared to any body and keeps being the absolute grandmasters, but lets not forget this is the first album of Vri-il. A band that can come up with this sound on their first album is a band that can come far. Songs which bring the glitch a level higher and the thrusting guitars of the first two songs get the listener in the mood for the madness of the rest of the songs on the album.
It's a very nice album with divers tracks, great melodies where electronics play the lead-role. Strange beats and lyrics, which due to my lack of knowledge of foreign language I can't make anything of, brought in a great spoken/sung way. Vri-il: a name to keep in mind.
